Tour Maternity Unit

Free tours of The Centre for Family Beginnings maternity unit at Wellington Regional Medical Center are offered Mondays at 7:30 p.m. and some Sundays at 5 p.m. Call 561-753-2626 for details.

Parents meet in the admitting office at the rear of the hospital. Enter through the Outpatient Entrance. Meet the professional nursing staff who will answer questions about birth, pregnancy and siblings.

The following prenatal education classes have been designed to provide first-time parents with information and skills that can help them feel more confident in their new roles, or as a refresher course for parents who have already had children.

Cost:

  • $75/couple includes Lamaze and any two education classes listed below, except Boot Camp for Dads and Parent-Infant Massage
  • $20/couple for any one class, excluding Lamaze


ABCs of Breastfeeding

Offered on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.
Taught by a certified lactation consultant, this class prepares
parents-to-be with breastfeeding education and basics.

Baby Care
Offered on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.
This class is designed to give expectant parents the skills and confidence needed to care for their new arrival. Topics include umbilical cord and circumcision care, bathing, feeding, burping, etc.

Infant/Child CPR
Offered on Monday evenings from 7 - 9  p.m.
For expectant parents, friends and families, CPR and first aid are taught by an American Heart Association-certified instructor.

Lamaze Childbirth Education
Weekday classes consist of three sessions. Saturday classes consist of two sessions. Call for dates and times. Provides the knowledge, skills and support to help you give birth with confidence and joy. All instructors are ASPO Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educators.

Sibling Class
Offered on Saturdays, 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m.
Taught by an obstetrics nurse, this class is designed to help big brother or big sister adapt to his/her new role.

NOW OFFERING:  Boot Camp for DadsGetting Ready for Fatherhood
Offered on four Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to noon

For dads-to-be, this three-hour workshop is designed to bring strength, practicality and creativity to their new role. This class helps teach expectant dads how to care for and enjoy their new baby, and is taught by "veteran" dads with their newborns. Get involved from the beginning with hands-on care in holding, comforting, changing, burping, swaddling, bathing and putting your baby to sleep.
Reservations are required. There is a $20 fee payable at the time of class.

NEW:  Infant Massage Class
Moms, Dads, Babies and Toddlers—You're invited to attend a Loving Touch® Parent-Infant Massage class presented by a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI).

Parents will learn the art of infant massage and how to massage their babies. After massage, babies may be more relaxed and less colicky. Massage can also help parents be more confident and secure in their parenting skills as they learn their baby's cues.

Infant massage is a great way for new dads to spend quality time with their baby, and build a foundation that will last a lifetime.

Third Thursday of every month at 9 a.m.

La Leche League of Palm Beach County
First Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
Call 561-798-0922 or 561-963-9020 for more information. La Leche League Support Group offers breastfeeding support and counseling.
