Richard Houston, DO

Medical School: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Bradenton, FL

"I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I was raised by my mother and grandparents, and after seeing my family struggle through medical issues, I knew early on that I wanted to help others going through similar issues. I became an EMT prior to medical school which fueled my interest in medicine. I eventually followed family to Florida in 2005 and graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando with a degree in Microbiology and Molecular Biology and went to medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL.

I have always had an adventurous life and love doing extreme activities including skydiving, primitive backpacking/camping, and scuba diving. After falling in love with Florida, I became a certified cave diver doing underwater research, exploration, conservation, and I continue to educate the public about the Florida underwater aquifer system.

I thrive on and cherish the close relationships that a community hospital offers as these relationships remind me of family, and knowing that Florida was where I wanted to be, I knew that Wellington Regional Medical Center was where I wanted to call home to further my medical career."
