Advanced Care for Our Tiniest Patients
Advanced neonatal intensive care is available to residents of Palm Beach County and surrounding communities with Wellington Regional Medical Center's 25-bed Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). These services represent our continued commitment to providing specialized care for newborns.
The medical experts in the NICU provide critical care for some of the highest risk pregnancies, as well as the sickest and tiniest of babies. The beautiful 15,000 square-foot NICU provides highly advanced technology in a comfortable environment.
Although most parents are able to take their newborns home when they leave the hospital, some infants require additional medical care and may need to remain in the NICU for days or even weeks. The Wellington Regional Level III NICU provides care for a full range of newborn conditions, from the most critically-ill babies to those born with the lowest birth weights or newborns in need of just a few days of support. In addition to respiratory and infectious conditions commonly seen in a neonatal unit, our Level III NICU also treats specialized surgical and cardiac conditions.
With a caring staff of specialized NICU nurses and respiratory therapists, along with support from the departments of radiology, laboratory, physical therapy and pharmacy, the WRMC Level III NICU is committed to caring for your baby’s individual needs. Neonatologists, physicians trained in the care of the sickest and smallest newborns, are on staff and in-house 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are just steps away in an emergency.
The hospital’s Level III services represent our continued commitment to providing specialized care for newborns.
