Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency Program

The Wellington Regional Internal Medicine Residency Program is an ACGME-accredited program located in the town of Wellington in Palm Beach County, Florida. Our residents complete their inpatient rotations at Wellington Regional Medical Center and their elective rotations in the surrounding clinical practices in the Palm Beach County area. Our continuity clinic is located in the hospital campus and follows a 4+1 schedule, allowing for better continuity and establishing meaningful patient rapports. Residents also work with a clinic pharmacist and pharmacy residents, which is an important part of continuity clinic curriculum that introduces residents to safe hospital-to-clinic transitions, medication safety, and polypharmacy and fruitful collaborative projects with clinical pharmacists.

Our program is currently affiliated with Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Kiran Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. This collaboration gives our residents an opportunity to serve as resident teachers while at the same time providing a great educational experience to Nova medical students. Our resident-led medical student lecture series demonstrates our continuous efforts toward medical education and prepares our residents for future careers in academic medicine.

Our residents are encouraged to participate in educational conferences, scholarly activities and quality improvement projects and are mentored by dedicated faculty members. This has led to published scholarly works and presentations at national conferences.

Institutional, monthly lung and breast tumor boards are other examples of a well-rounded educational experience which introduce our residents to the multidisciplinary approach of patients with cancer and how this team effort improves patient care outcomes. This diverse training experience prepares our trainees to be successful clinicians and future physician leaders in the communities they serve.

Our program is committed to providing the educational experience all future physician trainees deserve, while at the same time promoting resident wellness in a nourishing environment which values collegiality, equality and inclusion. We are excited to be part of this important chapter of our residents' professional and personal growth and thank you for your interest in our program.
